The Four Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity & Carat Weight
Every diamond is unique. Each reflects the story of its arduous journey from deep inside the earth to a cherished object of adornment. Yet all diamonds share certain features that allow us to compare and evaluate them.

These features are called the 4Cs.

CARAT WEIGHT: One carat equals 1/5 of a gram in weight. Simply put like pennies in a dollar, .50 carats equals 1/2 a carat or 50 points. These are all terms for a half a carat diamond.

CLARITY: The GIA Clarity Scale includes eleven classes of clarity grades. F (flawless) to I3 (imperfect third degree). We use the GIA accepted scale to grade all our diamonds at F.P. Wortley's..... F, IF, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, I1, I2, I3 Clarity is just one part of quality. We welcome the opportunity to help you in your selection of clarity. Clarity is one of the first facets that add up to quality.

COLOR: The color scale starts at "D" and ends at "Z"..... D E F (colorless) G H I (near colorless) J K L M (faint yellow) N O P Q R (very light yellow) S through Z (light yellow) do not confuse the yellow color in these categories as fancy yellow diamonds, they are not. Color is the second facet of quality.

CUT: Often referred to the make of the diamond is where it gets it's sparkle from. How well the diamond is made or cut is how well it can reflect the light through and bring it back to your eye. It is simply the ability of the cutter to fashion the diamond to it's finest ability to reflect light. Cut is the third facet of quality.

CUT, COLOR AND CLARITY ADD UP TO QUALITY.
